One of the biggest differences between the Eastern and Western approach to life is how we view knowledge.
In the west we tend to think there is no perfect knowledge. So the idea is if more manpower and money is spent, or better equipment and more advanced technology is used in gathering knowledge, more and more information is collected about the subject in focus.
This is the mentality and method that leads us to the strange phenomenon of learning different facts about the very same things as time goes by. And as time goes by there is a huge difference between the things we have studied in our times, from what the are children are thought today, in school.
On the other hand Vedic traditions are a top down system of acquiring knowledge. This means perfect knowledge exists, it is written down in the Vedas, and if we want to obtain this knowledge we simply have to apply ourselves to studying.
There are innumerable facts and figures that were written down in the Vedas 5,000 years ago, in a vast variety of sciences, that have also been discovered by western science thousands of year later. These findings range from astronomy to mathematics, from architecture to medical sciences.
It is needless to say that mathematics, the human body the law of physics, or even the pattern of the stars work the same way, as they did 5,000 years ago. But still it is a very intereseting fact that in ancient India the people were aware of these principles thousands of years prior to the scrutiny of western thought.
